Gold medal winning garden
One of our most technically challenging projects to date, this show garden installation resulted in a show-stopping gold-medal-winning design that defied construction constraints and preserved elegant simplicity.
Working closely with the client we interpreted the design brief ensuring their vision was not compromised by the necessities of construction. Featuring a bespoke cedar deck, with a stylish upward curved structure, the designer wanted to show that sometimes the simplest things are best. However, the simpler designs do often create the biggest challenges. Constructing a self-supporting structure without a sub-frame, we knitted together the deck planks and the joists to create the minimalist look desired. Laser-cut stainless-steel braces were laminated into the joists at critical points to provide additional support without compromising the sleek and sophisticated look.
